A Bit of History
The original bluestone home was built by Benedict & Anna Eshelman in 1770, as a gift to their daughter Anna, who was married to Peter Roesch. A plaque on the right side of the building (in German) is engraved with the 127th Psalm; “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
A Bit of History, beginning with our own wedding…
Erin Armstrong and Chad Vinelli were engaged and planned to marry in 2007. Erin had always felt that the beautiful homestead on which she grew up, rich in history in a region settled by William Penn and during the American Revolution, would be the ideal place to host their wedding ceremony and reception. The main house, crafted circa 1770 with local quarry bluestone had been lovingly restored by her parents. The home showcases the lovely architectural features of the estate, with thick stone walls and multi-paned windows, working shutters and large flagstone patio.
And so, of course, the wedding took place on the grounds and was absolutely beautiful; and in fact was to be an instant tradition and the first of many to be enjoyed at Bluestone Estate.
The original stone barn was built in 1822 by Joseph & Anna Roesch, and has a rich legacy. In 2017, to preserve its beauty, a decision was made to completely refurbish and rebuild the massive, historic barn.
Erin and Chad still reside on the property with their two children, and are very excited to now offer clients a wonderful wedding experience like theirs at an incomparable historic venue destination.
